My Story, My Mission
THE QUICK-SHORT-AND-TO-THE-POINT BIO
Daniel Brindley is an entrepreneur, coach, and creative builder who has spent his adult life turning ideas into real, sustainable work. As co-founder of Union Stage Presents, he has spent more than 25 years building and operating independent music venues in Washington, DC—beginning with Jammin’ Java, which he opened at age 21. Today, the company includes seven venues, a few hundred employees, and a business that continues to evolve alongside his life.
Daniel has built a life around independence, creativity, and ownership—being his own boss, following his interests, and shaping a career that feels aligned rather than imposed. He knows firsthand what it takes to move from imagining a different future to actually living it.
In addition to his work as a business owner, Daniel has taught Baptiste-style hot power yoga for over a decade and works one-on-one with people navigating career and life transitions. His coaching is grounded, practical, and focused on helping people bring what’s been calling them into the real world.
THE WHOLE-HEART-AND-SOUL-TOTALLY-WORTH-READING STORY
The guy on the left is my former self.
In 2001, I moved from New Jersey to D.C. to start my first nightclub at the age of 21—within a year of graduating college and my parents’ 30-year marriage falling apart. I guess you could say I was in a bit of a transition.
With the newfound, real-life, grown-up pressures of building a business and starting a life in a new city, all my Type-A, straight-A tendencies went into overdrive.
I became a workaholic. I ate mindlessly, smoked too much, and developed a messed-up relationship with alcohol. Things got dark.
I eventually made a desperate attempt to settle down. I bought a condo and a sports car, got married, and generally checked off all the boxes of a modern-day “successful” guy.
Fast forward to 2010: I’m 31 years old and I’ve broken down. I’m stuck in my shoebox of a condo because of the housing crisis. My short-lived marriage ends in divorce. I’m overweight, overworked, over-drinking; everything in overwhelm—and I am over it.
I have also discovered hot yoga.
The experience of slowing down, breathing full deep breaths, and sweating (like buckets of sweat!) was better than anything the doctor could’ve ordered.
Yoga opened me up to the possibility that powerful personal growth was possible in my life—but it wasn’t only yoga.
I did weekly therapy. I read countless spiritual and self-help books by the likes of Ram Dass, Eckhart Tolle, Deepak Chopra, Baron Baptiste, and Tim Ferriss. I took meditation classes. I tried diets. I rented out my condo, put all my stuff in storage, and disappeared to Costa Rica for three months by myself. I did yoga workshops, yoga retreats, yoga teacher trainings, and of course daily classes—often two in a day. The work was whole-life work. The work was all-encompassing. So…much…work.
And guess what? The work worked.
I was still Daniel Brindley—I was now just a whole new version of myself.
I no longer avoided quiet time alone; I relished it. My body got lighter, leaner, and stronger. My eyes were brighter, my laugh heartier. I could feel the full range of my emotions without being taken by them. I could spill my coffee in the middle of a workday and not throw a tantrum (no small feat for my old self!).
Fast forward to today: I’ve built a life that feels aligned—work that’s meaningful, relationships that matter, and space for creativity, reflection, and growth. I’m still building businesses. I’m still taking risks. But I’m no longer running from myself in the process.
The paradox of my life is that I’m all about yoga, meditation, and quiet…and I own a bunch of freaking nightclubs! Monk meets Mogul.
I am the Founder and CEO of Union Stage Presents—an independent concert promoter that owns and/or operates seven world-class venues in the Washington, D.C. area.
It all started with a small club called Jammin’ Java 25 years ago with 10 employees and has since grown to seven venues, 200+ employees, over 1,000 concerts per year, and $15M+ in annual revenue.
I’ve been featured in The Washington Post, Paste Magazine, Pollstar Magazine, Washingtonian Magazine, and many more. I never could have predicted this stuff.
What’s the secret to this kind of success?
Sure—it involved hard work, good business sense, risk-taking, and sleepless nights.
But the real secret is in the transformative life changes I’ve experienced.
It’s because I’ve done the work on myself that I now experience what I call Whole-Life Wealth.
This is a true statement you can count on: All your success in life—your work, career, relationships—is and will always be a creative expression of the work you do on yourself.
Your business grows when you grow. Your career grows when you grow. Your relationships grow when you grow.
If you’re off track and succumbing to bad habits, your work will be stale and uninspiring—to you and the people around you.
But when you’re aligned with your purpose and tending the garden of your life, your work becomes a supercharged extension of your true self. It feels authentic and real. You’ll stand out from the crowd. You’ll wake up inspired every day. And you’ll gain a business edge.
You see, this spiritual sh*t works for your life too. You’ll find yourself and find your dream job. You’ll gain peace of mind and more money.
THIS IS ME:
I am passionate about alleviating suffering in the world.
I am a Spiritual Teacher who sees potential in people and has a passion for sharing timeless truths to cause powerful change in people’s lives.
I am a CEO. I am a Founder. I am an Entrepreneur. I see potential everywhere—in people, in ideas, in systems—and have both the skill and heart to turn that potential into meaningful growth and change.
I am here to serve the world through teaching, speaking, writing, and one-on-one transformational life transition coaching.
